Vintage Framed Original Oil Painting on Canvas. Signed by the Artist – A Standout Piece of Impressionist Art.
A French scene, with the faces of people unseen or not clearly identified in typical Burnett style.
Original Oil Painting - Stunning & Evocative.
ABOUT THE PAINTING: A truly stunning oil painting of a French street scene, with gorgeous texture gained during the painting process. Burnett was known for painting herself & her husband in her artwork; he wore a suit and she had an orange skirt with a white, yellow or cream blouse. The signature is on the bottom left, in brown paint and after extensive research we believe this to be an original Burnett painting.
CONDITION: The painting is in very good condition with no major scratches or wear and tear. The framing style is a little unusual for oils – It is attached to the board with metal clips and the corners have been clipped to accommodate a smaller frame.
Frame is thick wood, with decorative gilt line. Minor chips off the decorative gilt. NOT glazed. Please see images for further information.
FRAME SIZE: 36.5cm wide x 31.5cm high. APERTURE SIZE: 24.5cm wide x 19.5cm high.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Caroline C. Burnett (1877-1950) was a British-American artist mainly known for her Impressionist paintings of street scenes in Paris & France. Burnett’s work and painting style show the movement towards contemporary painting in Paris during her years there.
