This Vintage Steamer Trunk is a Stylish & Practical Piece of Antique Furniture
With wooden banding and leather handles and a storage tray adding to the functionality, this great statement item can have many uses.
True steamer trunks are low profile – they were brought “On Voyage” into the ships cabin and were limited to size. Any trunk larger than roughly 91 x 66 x 35cm is NOT a steamer trunk – It would be a travel trunk that was stored in the ships hold during the trip – “Not Wanted on Voyage” or “Hold” labels were placed on these types of trunks.
Vintage Steamer Trunk Features a Classic Design with Wooden Banding.
ABOUT THE TRUNK: This trunk is a real beauty, with 5 highly decorative wooden bands giving the piece a real character. With the inner tray, there is a good amount of storage space inside the trunk and the interior is beautifully clean. The inside lid still retains the original manufacturers label – WE Jackson & Sons, Nottingham.
CONDITION: The external condition of this trunk shows expected age related wear, with bumps and knocks. The 2 leather handles are in remarkably good condition. The catches work, but are a little stiff to operate. There are remnants of travel stickers and 1 small section of fading after a sticker has been removed. There is a section on the bottom where the covering has started to fray.
