Brown Vintage Steamer Trunk – Gorgeous Statement Piece with Working Locks and Leather Handles in Good Condition.

The flat top vintage steamer trunk has plenty of character and is versatile in a contemporary home – It would make a perfect statement piece in any room.

True steamer trunks are low profile – they were brought “On Voyage” into the ships cabin and were limited to size. Any trunk larger than roughly 91 x 66 x 35cm is NOT a steamer trunk – It would be a travel trunk that was stored in the ships hold during the trip – “Not Wanted on Voyage” or “Hold” labels were placed on these types of trunks.

A good storage space inside and a large surface area on top gives this trunk a lot of versatility. The rich brown colours really give this trunk a bit of style and the remnants of the travel stickers add to the memories of the golden age of travel.

CONDITION: The external condition of this trunk is good, with age related wear on the corners and bottom. The handle on one end is a little scuffed – when these trunks were stood for loading, it was this section that ended up a bit worse for wear. The front corner is scuffed slightly and has suffered a little more wear than the rest.
The paper lining has a small amount of wear & tear, with 1 section by the hinge has a small tear. The trunk is clean & dry internally.

The metal banding is complete and the catches and hinges work. The back section looks like it has had some extra external leather straps added.
