Bright & Vibrant Japanese “Gold Imari” Porcelain Charger Plate with Scalloped Edges.

Beautifully hand painted with a repeat pattern around the plate. Segments feature the authentic colours of cobalt blue, gold, green & iron red. Also painted on is a phoenix in flight – I believe that the pattern is called “Old Phoenix”.

The underside of the plate has further decorations, as well as 2 holes for attaching a wire for fixing to the wall if so desired.

The makers mark sticker has worn the writing off over the years, but close up, the indent of “Hand Painted Japan” can still be seen – (See image) – This, and the red pottery stamp, corresponds with the label attached to items by Gold Imari, a trademark registered in the 1950’s.

CONDITION: In very good condition, no chips or faded paintwork. Colours still bright & vibrant, no cracking or glazing – A stunning piece.
