Drawn from the mid 1940’s to the late 1960’s Mid Century Modern Style has seen a huge revival recently. And with good reason, we say!
Mid century modern style furniture designed during the mid 20th Century had a post war outlook, as people wanted form AND function in their homes. Lifestyle also had more of an emphasis on family orientated, open plan spaces within houses and advances in technology assisted with new ideas.
Furniture designers of the era were no different, as they sought to create furniture that was understated, functional and used space wisely – gone were the large, imposing and ornate items of furniture so favoured by the Victorians & Edwardians. In its place were sleeker items of furniture with tapered legs, warm tones, curves and modular lines.
