This Vintage Steamer Trunk from the 1930s is a Stunning Statement Piece, Featuring Beautiful Wooden Banding.
The flat top vintage steamer trunk has plenty of character and is versatile in a contemporary home. As an antique piece of furniture, it adds a touch of nostalgia and charm to any room.
True steamer trunks are low profile – they were brought “On Voyage” into the ships cabin and were limited to size. Any trunk larger than roughly 91 x 66 x 35cm is NOT a steamer trunk – It would be a travel trunk that was stored in the ships hold during the trip – “Not Wanted on Voyage” or “Hold” labels were placed on these types of trunks.
Vintage Steamer Trunk - Perfect for Storage or Display.
ABOUT THE TRUNK: This trunk features a classic design with brown leather and wooden banding. A good storage space inside and a large surface area on top gives this trunk a lot of versatility. A beautiful and functional piece of antique furniture.
CONDITION: The external condition of this trunk is good, with age related wear on the corners, edges and bottom. Along the hinge, where the top and bottom joined, most of the connection has come apart and the lid just opens on the leather straps at each end. The internal strap stops the lid from falling backwards.
There is a small section missing of the wooden banding on the rear. Please see images for further details. Internally, the trunk is in good condition, with the paper lining practically whole & complete with only minor marks & blemishes.
DIMENSIONS: 69 x 26 x 45cm – (Approx)
