Square Vintage Travel Case or Hat Box.
An Especially Lovely Vintage Travel Case From the early 20th Century – A Square Travel Case with Striped Paper Lining.
A particularly unusual piece, a dark brown travel suitcase – Made with a wooden frame, paper lining, a suede handle and reinforced corners. A well used and travelled item, the inside straps have started to fray with the use over the years, but the metal hinges and lid catch still work well. The cardboard shell is worn in places. The initials “FMA” are stencilled on the lid.
A well used and travelled item, but the metal hinges and lid catch still work well.
This is an extremely well made suitcase and although it is well used, structurally it is still very solid.
ITEM CONDITION: Externally, there is age related wear & tear, where the item has been scuffed on its travels, especially on the bottom & corners. Internally, the paper lining is whole and complete, with the expected age related marks. It looks like the box has been used as a travelling sales case, as there are 2 labels, denoting that petticoats are 20p and aprons are 10p. There is also a name and address written in the lid. A cup circle on the top.
